Orange Clivia miniatas were an instant hit when discovered in the early part of the 1850's. Even today, they are considered the aristocrats of potted plants. Colorado Clivia's Traditional Orange carries on that long established tradition. The nice orange colors displayed during flowering each spring are a favorite of many. And the bright green strap leaves are a hit the rest of the year.
Clivia's normally require 13 leaves to bloom and under normal growth conditions add 4 leaves per year. One umbel (flower) typically occurs each spring. Dormancy periods are required to initiate blooming. The photos are of two Traditional Orange Clivias in our permanent collection. "Fully Mature" plants have previously bloomed and are larger and more developed than plants which have not bloomed. "5 to 8 Leaf" plants will require two to three years of additional growth before blooming.
Some of these plants are grown from seed. Because of natural genetic variation in seed produced plants, there may be differences in appearance between siblings. Environmental differences between our Colorado location and your location may also cause differences in appearance. All are expected to bloom orange because of pigmented bases. And the fully mature plants have bloomed orange for us. Flower colors will be a range of oranges.
These plants will be shipped bare root. Free shipping is included via FedEx Ground or USPS Priority Mail to continental United States addresses only. Sorry we do not ship outside of the continental United States. Please see our Terms and Conditions for additional information on shipping and other matters.
