Light Orange, Clivia miniata
Orange Clivia miniatas were an instant hit when discovered in the early part of the 1850's. Oranges come in a wide range of shades. These are a shade lighter than our Traditional Orange Clivias. The nice pastel orange colors displayed during flowering each spring are a favorite of many. And the bright green strap leaves are a hit the rest of the year.
Under normal growing conditions, one umbel (flower) typically occurs each spring. Dormancy periods are required to initiate blooming. The photo is of a typical Light Orange for sale. Fully mature plants for sale have bloomed previously and are larger and more developed than plants which have not bloomed. Also available are divisions taken from mothers which have bloomed. Division sizes include:
9 to 12 leaf. As Clivias typically add 4 leaves per year and require a minimum of 13 leaves to bloom, these plants will need an additional year or two before blooming.
5 to 8 leaf. These plants will require two to three years of additional, normal growth before blooming.
2 to 4 leaf. These plants will require three to four years of additional, normal growth before blooming.
Some of these plants are grown from seed. Because of natural genetic variation in seed produced plants, there may be differences in appearance between siblings. Environmental differences between our Colorado location and your location may also cause differences in appearance. Flower colors will be a range of light oranges.
These plants will be shipped bare root. Free shipping is included via FedEx Ground, UPS Ground or USPS Priority Mail to continental United States addresses only. Sorry we do not ship outside of the continental United States. Please see our Terms and Conditions for additional information on shipping and other matters.
