Genetically these plants are Butter x Hirao. Butter is a rare, habitat, Group 2 yellow. This particular Hirao has a strong green color, although as seen in the photos that genetic material is hidden. Group 2 yellows are genetically different from most yellow Clivia miniatas which are Group 1's.
Obtained from a well known South African breeder of Clivia as seed in 2010 these plants are being sold because of space constraints in our greenhouse. We are keeping one for the collection because they are special.
While many just appreciate the Group 2 plant style and flowers, they are often used for breeding by collectors. Group 2 yellows are somewhat rare.
The plants for sale here have leaves that average 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 inches in width and 24 to 26 inches in length. They are fully mature having bloomed previously. A dormancy period is required to initiate blooming in the spring.
These plants will be shipped bare root. Free shipping is included via FedEx Ground or USPS Priority Mail to continental United States addresses only. Sorry we do not ship outside of the continental United States. Please see our Terms and Conditions for additional information on shipping and other matters.
